Halsman at Jeu de Paume

CLAIR Gallery would like to announce that the monumental exhibition of Philippe Halsman’s photography, Astonish Me!, has arrived in France. After appearing at the Musée d’Elysée in Lausanne, the exhibition will now open at the Galerie nationale du Jeu de Paume in Paris. It is next scheduled to travel to Rotterdam, Barcelona, and Madrid.

The Astonish Me! exhibition, which runs from October 20, 2015 to January 24, 2016, includes more than 300 pieces of Halsman’s work, from contact sheets to his most famous photographs. Halsman (b. Riga, 1906; d. New York,1979) was one of the most recognized names in photography for more than 40 years. He is renowned for his vibrant and original portraits of such figures as Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, Winston Churchill, and Albert Einstein. His work with Salvador Dali is considered one of the preeminent artistic collaborations of the 20th century. More information about the Paris leg of the Astonish Me! exhibition can be had by visiting the official Jeu de Paume website.
